There are life coaches… and there are life coaches. As a Life Mastery Coach, I’m all about helping women live full-on, by design and without coulda-shoulda-wouldas. In 1998 I founded Shelley Weiss Cohen, Inc., because personal and professional experience taught me that when it comes to bringing about deep and lasting change, 'talk is cheap.'

My coaching philosophy is based on the belief that although insight, knowledge and understanding are necessary for personal growth, they are no substitute for behavioral change. Changing the way you think in conjunction with taking strategic action, will change your life. Bottom line, “You can pray for potatoes, but you better buy a hoe!”

I coach women of all ages who are tired of struggling with fear, inertia or self-doubt and are ready to take charge of their lives. My specialty is coaching women at midlife and beyond through life-stage change and transition. I’m a baby boomer myself, so I’ve been down that road. I can help you:

Navigate challenging relationships

Work through the divorce process and rebuild your life after divorce or widowhood

Work smarter

Find answers to that all-important question, what’s next?

Feel good about yourself…finally!

I am a Graduate of the Coach University Coach Training Program and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation. I am also a member of the American Psychological Association-Society for the Teaching of Psychology. I hold a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois, an MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and have worn several hats over the course of my career as a psychologist, coordinator of training and development, employee relations counselor, adjunct professor of psychology and life coach.

I bring to coaching the combined benefit of my many years as a coach, psychologist and educator, in addition to the wisdom of my life experience. In my role as a catalyst, I provide the impetus for thoughtful, creative and calculated risk-taking, which promotes personal growth and moves my clients in the direction of their goals. My unique ability to zero-in on the heart of the matter helps my clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their challenges, paving the way for sustainable behavioral change.

In addition to my role as life coach, I am a wife and the mother of an adult son. I enjoy outdoor pursuits including hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and archery in addition to reading, touring historic homes, antiquing and gardening. Maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle is one of my top priorities, as well as being fully engaged in the on-going process of personal growth. I find few things more rewarding than assisting others in their quest to do the same.
