President's Report

Happy Fourth of July ICF Chicago! I’m wishing you the most dazzling and exciting Fourth of July ever. Enjoy the fireworks and be safe.

We also have something to celebrate as coaches! As we celebrate ICF’s 25th anniversary in 2020, we are also pleased to celebrate another tremendous milestone for ICF. There are now 30,000 active ICF Credential-holders around the world! You are at the heart of this achievement!

The ICF Chicago Board of Directos  has extended the deadline to enter the raffle to win a Pro Coach pass from WBECS (valued at $1494) and we want to give it to one of our current members.  To enter the raffle you must complete your profile on our website (contact info and bio).  So, head to our chapter website, login with your member credentials, and update or enter a short bio and your contact information.  The benefit is twofold, first you will make it easier for those looking for coaches to find you AND you will be eligible to enter the raffle.  After you fill out your bio, simply email [email protected] and say “my profile is complete". You will automatically be entered to win!  The deadline for entry is Thursday, July 9 at 5 PM.

A Message from Sheryl Shields -
Programming Director

Coaches work with all types of clients.  Sometimes they look just like us and there's an immediate familiarity and sometimes they don’t and we struggle to bond with them. That doesn’t make you a bad coach - it just makes you human. We are all born with an innate bias towards people and communities where everyone looks like us. Our country is created like that. Due to the recent events in the news now is the perfect time to learn about how our thoughts and life experiences cause us to think and act differently around certain people.

As coaches we know the importance of bringing our biases to light and we're going to read Bias by Jennifer Eberhardt.

We will meet on Saturdays from July 11 - Aug 8 from 9-10am CT, and read two chapters each week. During our meeting we’ll answer questions and talk about our experiences.

To check out the book or to purchase it click here Biased by Jennifer Eberhardt

If you have any questions, please mail [email protected]

It's free for members and only $25.00 for non member.

I look forward to discussing this book with all of you!

Warmly,
Sheryl Shields
